Does Jesus Still Heal?
Yes, Jesus still heals today. The Bible teaches that Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever (Hebrews 13:8), and that includes His compassion, power, and willingness to heal. However, it’s important to understand how healing works in the context of God’s will, the role of faith, and the broader purposes of His plan.
Jesus’ Power to Heal Has Not Changed
During His earthly ministry, Jesus healed every kind of disease and affliction. “Jesus went throughout Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom, and healing every disease and sickness among the people” (Matthew 4:23). His miracles demonstrated His divine authority and compassion.
Jesus’ healing ministry was not just about physical restoration—it pointed to the deeper spiritual healing He offers through salvation. His miracles confirmed His identity as the Son of God and the promised Messiah.
God Still Heals Today—But According to His Will
God has not changed, and He still has the power to heal. Many believers today testify to miraculous healings, and there is no biblical reason to believe that God has stopped healing. However, healing is not guaranteed in every situation. Sometimes God allows sickness for reasons we may not fully understand—whether for spiritual growth, to display His glory, or even as a form of discipline, as seen in (1 Corinthians 11:30): “That is why many among you are weak and sick, and a number of you have fallen asleep.”
Please note, “God’s ability to heal supernaturally does not negate the important role of obtaining appropriate medical help during times of need.” Jesus Himself acknowledged the role of physicians (Mark 5:26; Luke 10:34), and using medicine is not a lack of faith.
Healing Is Ultimately from God, Not a Technique
Jesus healed in many different ways—sometimes with a word, sometimes with a touch, and sometimes using unusual methods like spitting on the ground to make mud (John 9:6). This variety shows that healing is not about a formula or ritual, but about the sovereign power of God. The variety of methods used by the Lord eliminates confidence in any one technique or modus operandi.
The man born blind whom Jesus healed said, “Since the world began it has been unheard of that anyone opened the eyes of one who was born blind. If this Man were not from God, He could do nothing” (John 9:32–33). This reminds us that healing is a divine act, not a human achievement.
The Gift of Healing in the Church
In the early church, the apostles were given the gift of healing to confirm the gospel message (Acts 2:22; 14:3). While some believe this specific gift ceased after the apostolic age, others believe God still grants this gift today. Regardless, the power to heal has always belonged to God alone, not to the person being used.
God still performs miracles. God still heals people. There is nothing preventing God from healing one person through the ministry of another person.”
God’s Will Be Done
Yes, Jesus still heals today, but always according to His will and purpose.
Healing may come through prayer, medical treatment, or divine intervention, but all healing ultimately comes from God.
We are called to trust in God’s goodness, whether He chooses to heal now, later, or in eternity.
Even when physical healing does not come, God offers something even greater: spiritual healing and eternal life through faith in Jesus Christ (Isaiah 53:5; 1 Peter 2:24).
Will Jesus Heal Me?
That is a deeply personal and heartfelt question, and it reflects a longing that many people share when they are suffering. The Bible shows us clearly that Jesus cares deeply about our pain, and He is both able and willing to heal. But whether He will heal you physically in this life depends on His perfect will, which always seeks your ultimate good—even when the answer is not what we hope for.
Let’s look at what Scripture says:
Jesus Is Compassionate and Willing to Heal
In (Matthew 8:2–3), a man with leprosy came to Jesus and said, “Lord, if you are willing, you can make me clean.” Jesus replied, “I am willing. Be clean!” And immediately the man was healed.
This shows us that Jesus is not distant or uncaring. He is moved by compassion. In fact, “He took up our pain and bore our suffering” (Isaiah 53:4). He understands your suffering more deeply than anyone else ever could.
Jesus Has the Power to Heal—Even from a Distance
In (Matthew 8:5–13), a Roman centurion came to Jesus on behalf of his paralyzed servant. He said, “Just say the word, and my servant will be healed” (v. 8). Jesus marveled at his faith and healed the servant from a distance.
This reminds us that Jesus doesn’t need to be physically present to heal. He is Lord over time, space, and the human body. His power is not limited.
God Sometimes Allows Suffering for a Greater Purpose
While Jesus healed many, not everyone was healed instantly or in the way they expected. The Apostle Paul, for example, prayed three times for a “thorn in the flesh” to be removed, but God said, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness” (2 Corinthians 12:9).
Sometimes, God uses suffering to draw us closer to Him, to refine our character, or to accomplish a purpose we cannot yet see. As (Romans 8:28) reminds us, “In all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”
So, Will Jesus Heal You?
He can. There is no sickness or condition beyond His power.
He cares. He sees your pain and is not indifferent to it.
He may heal you now, later, or in eternity. But if you belong to Him, He will never waste your suffering.
Whether or not physical healing comes, Jesus offers something even greater: spiritual healing and eternal life. “By his wounds you have been healed” (1 Peter 2:24). This healing is eternal and guaranteed to all who repent and trust in Him.
If you are suffering, we encourage you to bring your pain to Jesus. Ask Him for healing, trust Him with the outcome, and rest in His love. He is with you, and He will never leave you (Hebrews 13:5).
