All Religions, Same God?

Does All Religions Lead to the Same God?

This is a thoughtful and important question. Many people today believe that all religions are simply different paths leading to the same God or ultimate reality—a view known as religious pluralism. However, when we look closely at what the Bible teaches, we see a very different answer.

Jesus’ Exclusive Claim

Jesus Himself made it clear that not all paths lead to God. He said:

“Jesus answered, ‘I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”— (John 14:6).

Here, Jesus does not present Himself as one option among many, but as the only way to God the Father.

The Apostles’ Teaching

The early Christians, following Jesus’ teaching, also affirmed this exclusivity:

“Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.”— (Acts 4:12).

Peter is clear: Only through Jesus can anyone be saved. This is not a message of intolerance, but of clarity and love—pointing to the only true hope for humanity.

The Nature of God and Truth

The Bible teaches that God is one (Deuteronomy 6:4) and that He has revealed Himself uniquely in Jesus Christ. Other religions have very different views of God, humanity, sin, and salvation. For example:

Judaism teaches strict monotheism but rejects Jesus as Messiah.

Hinduism teaches many gods or an impersonal ultimate reality.

Buddhism is generally non-theistic.

Islam denies the Trinity and the deity of Christ.

These differences are not minor—they are fundamental. As the resource from All About God Ministries notes:

“When you begin to examine world religions such as Judaism, Hinduism, and Buddhism, you will immediately recognize that they directly contradict one another. For example, Moses taught that there was only one God; Krishna believed in many Gods; and Buddha was agnostic.”

The True Path: Faith in Christ

The Bible teaches that faith in Jesus Christ is what binds believers together and leads to reconciliation with God:

“For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself as a ransom for all people.”— (1 Timothy 2:5-6).

A Short Summary

Not all religions lead to the same God. Their teachings about God, salvation, and truth are fundamentally different and often contradictory.

Jesus Christ is the only way to God, according to His own words and the teaching of the apostles.

Unity in Christianity is based on faith in Christ, not on blending or compromising with other religious systems see (Ephesians 4:4-6).

In love and truth, the Bible calls everyone to turn from sin and trust in Jesus Christ, who alone can reconcile us to God.

How Do I Come Out of False Religion?

Thank you for your honest and courageous question. Wanting to come out of a false religion is a significant and life-changing step. The Bible teaches that true religion is not about following rules or rituals to earn God’s favor, but about entering a relationship with God through faith in Jesus Christ.

True religion, which is Biblical Christianity, has rules to obey (do not murder, do not commit adultery, do not lie, etc.) and rituals to observe (water baptism by immersion and the Lord’s Supper / Communion).

Observance of these rules and rituals is not what makes a person right with God. Rather, these rules and rituals are the result of the relationship with God, by grace through faith in Jesus Christ alone as the Savior. False religion is doing things (rules and rituals) in order to try to earn God’s favor.

True religion is receiving Jesus Christ as Savior and thereby having a right relationship with God – and then doing things (rules and rituals) out of love for God and desire to grow closer to Him.”

Let’s look at what the Bible says about leaving a false religion and coming to true faith:

Recognize the Truth About Jesus Christ

Jesus is the only way to God. He said:

“I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”— (John 14:6).

No religious system, ritual, or good works can save us—only Jesus can.

Repent and Turn to God

The Bible calls everyone to turn away from false beliefs and sin, and to turn to God:

“In the past God overlooked such ignorance, but now he commands all people everywhere to repent.”
(Acts 17:30).

Repentance means changing your mind and heart—turning away from anything that is not true and turning toward God.

Believe in the Gospel

Salvation comes by trusting in Jesus’ death and resurrection for the forgiveness of your sins:

“If you declare with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.”— (Romans 10:9–10).

Receive God’s Grace

You cannot earn your way to God. Salvation is a gift:

“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast.”— (Ephesians 2:8–9).

Find a Bible-Believing Church

After turning to Christ, seek out a church that teaches the Bible faithfully, so you can grow in your new faith, be baptized, and find support.

In Conclusion

Leaving a false religion means:

Recognizing that only Jesus saves.

Repenting of false beliefs and sin.

Trusting in Jesus’ finished work on the cross.

Receiving God’s grace as a free gift.

Joining a community of true believers.

If you are ready to take this step, know that God welcomes all who come to Him through Jesus Christ.

“Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” (Romans 10:13).
