FREE BOOK: God Is a Good God
Our picture of God is “developed” through a variety of sources—what others have said about God, what we conclude because of experiences, observations, reading, analyses and so on. But not all of these may be correct! For instance, insurance companies have disclaimers that refer to catastrophic weather conditions—earthquakes, cyclones and hurricanes—as “acts of God.” When we are exposed to such reasoning, we begin to develop an inaccurate understanding of God.

It is an awesome thought to consider that God has called us to be coworkers together with Him. Our call is to be builders of His Kingdom. What is Kingdom Building? What does it take to be a Kingdom Builder, someone who co-labors with God to build His Kingdom? Since all of us are co-laboring with God, this also means, that we co-labor with each other to build His Kingdom. How do we do this given our differences, our personal insecurities, flaws and weaknesses?

“God has a purpose for your life.” Through personal study, observation and listening to other ministers of God, I began to gain more understanding on how to recognize God’s plan and how God takes us through life to unfold and fulfill His plan. This study manual is simply a compilation of those insights. It is indeed such a joy to see God’s people get a hold of this truth in their hearts and live for a heavenly purpose. There is nothing that can bring as much satisfaction as pursuing and fulfilling His heavenly call.
The Bible reveals that when God wanted to release His purposes on the earth, there have been times when He used angelic beings. But most often, He releases them through human vessels. This means that His purposes are released on the earth, through people, like you and me. As you walk with God, you will discover the plans and purposes that He desires to release on this earth through you. Life is a journey—a journey with many stages! All of us who were infants at one point in time, grew up to become children, and later reached those adolescent years that seemed almost endless! Then came adulthood. Many of us are married now and have children. The children will then grow up, leave home and will move on to other stages in life. However, within each stage in life, there are various seasons. When we recollect our childhood years, most of us probably have happy memories of a lot of fun and ice cream! For some of us, the thought of our childhood may bring a sigh to our lips as it may have been filled with strife and lack.

Change! All around us, things are constantly changing. We see social, political, economic, and a host of other changes taking place around the world. Things do not always remain the way they are. “There is one thing constant in the world today and that is change!” goes a common saying. The word “change” denotes either an event or a process that causes things to be different from what they currently are. Change is important for the Christian too! Our Christian life began with repentance, which essentially is a change of heart and mind from sin and satan toward the living God.

There is strife everywhere—in the family, at the workplace, in ministry, in church and so on—and it eats away at human relationships. There is probably no facet of life left untouched by this cancerous thing called strife. So, what is strife? It is division, quarrel, hatred, ill feeling, contention, enmity or factions between people. At home, we fi nd strife between the husband and wife, between parents and children and among siblings—as children, we may have fought over toys and as adults, we fight about land and money!
Having started preaching at the age of 12 and being full of zeal but not having much wisdom, I did several things in my early days of ministry that were not essentially in divine order. We can learn a lot from our mistakes, and this was one of the ways by which I learned how to conduct myself as a Christian and as a minister of God. I am personally guilty of violating several things that I share in this book at some point in the early days of ministry. Each mistake that I made taught me valuable lessons.
Imagine a world without a Bible—without any written revelation of the God of this universe. What would our understanding of God be? If the world were without a Bible, would we believe in a sovereign God, would we understand the need for a Savior, a Redeemer—someone who would “pay the price” to purchase our freedom from sin and its consequences? Because God has found a ransom—a redemption price— God is able to extend grace to the person who is suffering. God can 6 accept the one who previously continued in sin but has since realized the error of his / her ways and has turned to God.
